Illegal pot farms are destroying the ecosystem and poisoning animals in California. While people rejoice in nearby states where recreational marijuana is legal, the very cannabis they are smoking could be coming from illegal growing areas in California, with harsh consequences hitting the ecosystem and perhaps even marijuana users’ bodies. Since there is no “seed to sale” tracking model set-up, it is quite impossible to figure out where marijuana is coming from in states that use it for recreational use. It could be originating from unmonitored backwoods establishments that are hidden on public and private property. Such areas will continue to live on and in turn cause perhaps irreversible damage to the environment, especially in the state of California, as long as the practice is against the law
